Stillwater Elementary Schools Welcome Adam Rex as Part of the Adopt-an-Author Program

Mr. Rex has authored over 40 books and he shared his wisdom and creative process with PreK through 5th Grade students at all six Stillwater elementary sites.

This special event is made possible through the Adopt-An-Author Fund at Stillwater Public Education
Foundation. This fund was established in 2002 as a means to host nationally recognized authors at our
public schools. To date, SPEF has hosted 14 author visits and contributed more than $70,000 to Adopt-
An-Author programming.

Adam Rex’s works include New York Times bestselling picture books like Frankenstein Makes a
Sandwich and School’s First Day of School, (with illustrator Christian Robinson). His novel, Gumluck the
Wizard, was named to the 2025 Sequoyah Children’s Book Award Masterlist. His work has been adapted
for film and television. His awards include the Margaret Wise Brown Prize in Children’s Literature and the
